Heres whats been happening to Eric in the past few months. In early august I had a call from my previous employer stating that he had a 3D project and as I was his only 3D artist I was offered to be brought back into the fold for contract work. I accepted since I had no other real prospects and I figured it would be better money that some retail job. I worked a total of 3 separate projects since then to keep money coming in while I (attempted) work on my 3D portfolio at home. Unfortunately these projects kept me busy enough that I had little time to get any actual work done on it.
Recently as these projects were winding down I got into panic mode again wondering what was gonna happen next. But luckily for me I had contacted a bunch of old art school buddies and told them of my employment issues and one of them contacted me about an opening for a 3D artist to do architectural work.
Though it was right up my alley I hadn't much other than the Eflection site and a handful of other sites from the various projects I did for them as professional work examples, but I sent them stuff anyway just in case. Apparently that was enough though and they called me for an interview later that week. We went over the stuff and I told them what I did on each project (pretty much everything as I was his only 3D artist) and they really seemed to like it. A few days passed and I got a call saying that the Denver position had been filled but their office in Seattle, which does even more architectural 3D than the Denver office, had just by chance lost a person and the wanted to bring me on with them.
So pretty much baring any catastrophic events I will be out of my job troubles after the thanksgiving holiday and working for the Seattle team remotely from the Denver office and possibly moving out of state for the first time in my life.
Definitely and eventful 2 weeks for Eric.
And a sincere thanks to my friend Sam (badnewsbear) for the heads up with the job opening.
